Michaels: Ravens’ Mark Andrews’ 2023 injury vs Bengals was on Logan Wilson hip-drop tackle

Amazon Prime Video play-by-play broadcaster Al Michaels referenced the tackle last season Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson from Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews as a “hip-drop tackle,” despite the NFL previously clarifying that it was not one.

Michaels was talking about Andrews during the first half of the NFL Week 10 game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football at M&T Bank Stadium when he made the “hip-drop tackle” remark.

In November 2023, Andrews suffered a season-ending ankle injury on the tackle of Wilson. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor defended Wilson’s tackling style, insisting it was not a hip-drop tackle.

Andrews had four catches for 55 receiving yards in the Ravens’ overtime win against the Bengals in October. He led the Ravens with three receptions for 34 yards in the first half Thursday.
