‘Look Back’ Anime Movie Hits Streaming: When to Watch on Prime Video

Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto has another hit on his hands with Look Back, his latest manga to be adapted into an anime release.

Brought to the screen by director Kiyotaka Oshiyama, the film runs just under an hour and is streaming to a worldwide audience this week after premiering in theaters earlier this year. The story follows two school-aged girls, Kyomoto and Fujino, who are both creative and gifted at drawing manga.

Jealousy creeps up on Fujino when Kyomoto’s manga starts getting more attention than hers, causing her to work harder. Eventually, the girls form a friendship through art and end up working together, but the competitive spirit of Fujino still lurks. They have something of a common path — until they no longer do — and one of them has to look back to understand how to move forward.

There is a story within the story of Look Back that follows the girls into young adulthood. It’s a tale that has been known to bring some fans to tears, so be prepared for lessons and scenes that can leave you reeling.
