AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Agencies have announced counties eligible to receive disaster supplemental aid for those affected by Helene.

People in Georgia affected by Helene can apply to receive a one-time benefit to help buy food through the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the Georgia Department of Human Services announced.

The next phase in Georgia will run from Thursday, November 7 to 14 (excluding November 10 and 11) for the following counties: Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Screven, Taliaferro, Warren and Washington .

The final phase will run Monday, Nov. 18 through Nov. 23 for Emanuel County.

In assistance under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. per As of November 1, the USDA has approved the following counties for DSNAP as a result of Hurricane Helene: Abbeville, Aiken, Allendale, Anderson, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Cherokee, Chester, Edgefield, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Hampton, Jasper, Kershaw, Laurens, Lexington, McCormick, Newberry, Oconee, Orangeburg, Pickens, Richland, Saluda, Spartanburg, Union and York.

DSNAP will be implemented in two phases. Residents are only eligible for pre-registration and phone interviews during their allotted time period.

Phase one includes the following counties: Aiken, Allendale, Anderson, Bamberg, Barnwell, Beaufort, Cherokee, Hampton, Laurens, McCormick, Saluda, Spartanburg, Union and York.

Beginning Monday, November 11, residents of these counties can pre-register DSNAP online.

Those who pre-register will be sent instructions on how to complete their eligibility interview over the phone, and if approved, the applicant will have their EBT card mailed to them.

Applicants are encouraged to provide as much information as possible on the online pre-registration form. Failure to provide your state of residence, date of birth, current contact information, and a photo of your South Carolina driver’s license/ID card may result in you having to wait to apply in person when your county’s on-site DSNAP event is scheduled.
