‘Outer Banks’ To Be “Feature Length” Season 4 Finale: “Best Episode”

After the cliffhanger episode 5 ends, Netflix’s hit action adventure series Outer Banks will return for the remainder of Season 4 on November 7. It will culminate in a super-big finale that promises to pack an emotional punch, series co-creators/executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke revealed in a letter to fans bound for Outer Banks‘ renewal for fifth and final season.

“The fourth season was our longest and most difficult — but most rewarding — to produce,” the trio said of the current season, production of which was interrupted by the SAG-AFTRA strike. “The season ends with a feature-length episode that we think is our best, most powerful episode. We hope you feel the same way.”

Outer Banks‘ episodes average between 40 minutes and 60 minutes in length. Before season 4, the show had crossed the 1 hour mark twice, with the season 2 (1 hour 1 min) and season 3 (1 hour 19 min) finale. Season 4 – first time Outer Banks is published in two parts – believed to contain three episodes that run over 60 min. Acting as a mid-season finale, the eventful episode 5 ran for 1 hour and 2 minutes. Another episode in Part 2 is expected to be the same length, with the season finale eclipsing Season 3 closer as the longest episode of the series so far. (It is said to be slightly longer than 1 hour 19 min.)

According to the official synopsis, after last season’s 18-month flash-forward showing Wes Genrette’s proposal to the Pogues to find Blackbeard’s treasure, season 4 takes us back in time to the prelude to that moment. After finding the gold in El Dorado, the Pogues return to OBX and commit to a “normal” life. They have built themselves a new safe haven, officially dubbed “Poguelandia 2.0”, where they live together and run a fairly successful bait, tackle and charter shop. But after some financial setbacks, John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope and Cleo take Wes up on his offer, drawn back to the “G” game for a whole new adventure. Before they know it, they’re in over their heads, with dangerous new enemies hot on their heels, driving them to the treasure. Meanwhile, their problems only grow and they are forced to question their past, present and future – who they really are, has it all been worth it and how much are they willing to risk?
