US Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is believed to have accumulated her wealth by investing her earnings from public service and collecting royalties.

According to Forbes, 60-year-old Harris and her husband Douglas Emhoff’s net worth is about $8 million.

Harris spent most of his working life in government. She first became a district attorney in San Francisco and then served as California attorney general and as a US senator before becoming Joe Biden’s running mate in 2020.

Harris was San Francisco’s district attorney from 2004 to 2010, earning $200,000 a year in his final years in office, according to Forbes.

When Harris became California attorney general, she took a pay cut and earned $159,000 a year.

In 2016, the presidential candidate was elected to the Senate and was paid a salary of $174,000 a year. While in office as the nation’s vice president, Harris earned $235,100 a year.

Harris’ income and assets disclosed

According to the latest release of the asset report, Harris has invested millions in passively managed index funds.

Harris has shown investments in eight different funds as part of two deferred compensation plans that were earned while she was employed in California.

According to Forbes, she was also a participant in some defined benefit pension plans worth less than $1 million.

Emhoff showed his 30-plus investments, which were in various funds and were passively managed. The cash holdings reported by both Harris and Emhoff were $850,000.

Barron’s analysis stated that the couple’s holdings, including cash, investments and retirement accounts, should be between $2.9 million and $6.6 million.

In the disclosure, Harris and Emhoff were shown to hold a family trust called The KDH/DCE Family Trust.

As part of her author royalties, Harris has earned more than $500,000 from the books she has written, which include “Smart on Crime,” the 2019 children’s book “Superheroes are Everywhere,” and her 2019 memoir, “The Truths We Hold.” ”

A Los Angeles home owned by Harris and Emhoff together is worth more than $4 million, according to Forbes.
