Mark Cuban congratulates Trump, Musk who wins before the race is called

  • Mark Cuban, a key Harris surrogate, congratulated Trump in a post on X before the race was called.
  • At the time, Trump was on the verge of taking Pennsylvania, which had been a must-win for Harris.
  • Cuban also congratulated Elon Musk — who has been a major Trump donor and staunch GOP supporter.

Vote counting is still underway, but Mark Cuban, a key campaign surrogate for Vice President Kamala Harris, has called the race for his opponent, former President Donald Trump.

“You won fair and square,” Cuban wrote on X on Wednesday morning. “Congratulations to @elonmusk too. #Godspeed.”

Cuban initially supported President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign. He shifted his support to Harris after she became the Democratic nominee.

The “Shark Tank” star has been busy campaigning for Harris, appearing at rallies in swing states like Arizona, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Cuban isn’t the only one who thinks Trump is headed for the White House again.

In an X post Wednesday, Elon Musk, one of Trump’s most vocal supporters, said the former president had been given a “crystal clear mandate for change.”

At the time of Cuban’s post, Trump was clearly favored to take the White House, with two key swing state wins and leads in other battleground states.

Cedric Richmond, Harris-Walz campaign co-chairman, said around 1 a.m. ET that Harris would not address his supporters at Howard University Tuesday night. Richmond said Harris will instead make his remarks at Howard University on Wednesday morning.

“We still have votes to count. We still have states that haven’t been called yet. We’re going to continue overnight to fight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every vote is counted,” Richmond said.

Representatives for Cuban and the Harris campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Business Insider.
