Ex-Eagles Pro Bowl wide receiver gets job as college head coach

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson has been named the head coach at Delaware State, according to multiple reports. Jackson follows in the footsteps of former Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who landed the head coaching job at Norfolk State last week.

Jackson was never a collegiate head coach, but was the offensive coordinator at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, California. That gave him the starting foundation to make a leap into the coaching world, and now he’ll head to the collegiate level to revitalize Delaware State.

They moved on from head coach Lee Hull, who had arrived at Delaware State just two years earlier. The Hornets finished 1-11 in 2024.

Jackson had a decorated NFL career. He last played for the Baltimore Ravens in 2022, but is best known for his stellar time with the Eagles early in his career. A three-time Pro Bowler and an All-American selection while at Cal, Jackson is one of the best deep-trus wide receivers of this century.
