Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and veteran Congress leader died on Thursday. According to AIIMS sources, his condition was critical and he was being treated by a team of several doctors. The reason for his hospitalization was not immediately known.

Manmohan Singh was India’s only Sikh Prime Minister to enter the Rajya Sabha in 1991, not long after he became Finance Minister under the PV Narasimha Rao government in June of that year. He represented Assam for five terms in the Upper House before moving to Rajasthan in 2019.

His last words in Parliament were a strong criticism of demonetisation, describing it as a “sanctioned and legal raid.”
