The photorealistic animated film Mufasa: The Lion Kingwhich hit theaters on December 20, is a prequel to Jon Favreau’s The Lion King (2019), a remake of 1994’s critically acclaimed animated classic. The voice cast Mufasa features multiple stars and notable actors including Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Aaron Pierre, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner and Kelvin Harrison Jr; Beyoncé and rap mogul Jay-Z’s 12-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, also makes her feature film debut. And Mufasa: The Lion King‘s soundtrack features seven songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

When to stream Mufasa: The Lion King Online

Most new movies arrive on streaming services between 60 and 90 days after their theatrical release, but the wait can stretch up to 120 days. Since Mufasa: The Lion King premiering in theaters on December 20, it will likely make its streaming debut in either February or March 2025. That’s when the film will also be available for purchase on Apple TV. The Hollywood Reporter will update this story once the official streaming and VOD release dates are announced.
