Rise of the Ronin

Rise of the Ronin came out back in March, and while it’s absent from most GOTY lists, it’s an excellent action game from the studio behind Nioh and Ninja Gaiden. If you can imagine the Japanese Assassin’s Creed you’ve always dreamed of, with gloriously fluid Team Ninja samurai battles, that’s basically what Rise of the Ronin is. Amazon currently sells it for AU$69down from the suggested retail price of AU$124.95 (although realistically the current price is generally closer to AU$80). If you’re looking for a relatively breezy action game with a fantastic open world and a surprisingly byzantine plot, I really can’t recommend it enough. It’s not GOTY material, but it’s great fun.

God of War Ragnarok

Just a quick update with some amazing PS5 and PS4 game discounts that don’t really deserve their own post but might pique your interest if you haven’t played them yet. God of War Ragnarok going at the moment for a generous AU$49 on Amazonwhich is actually the lowest price ever on that storefront.

Also note LEGO Horizon Adventures goes after AU$68 (down from AU$109.95), which is a decent price for a game that didn’t come out until late October. I’d never give an RRP for this one as good as it is, but at AU$68 this is a nice casual co-op game for the holidays.

Also consider:

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for AU$64 (down from AU$109.95)

Amazon’s killer deal on Western Digital SN80X 2TB NVMe drive with heatsink temporarily sold out, but it seems to be back in stock for now.

This is a big one: Amazon is currently offloading the huge amount 2TB WD Black SN850X NVMe drive for AU$202.28which is, um, cheaper than some retailers are selling the 1TB model for.

It is equipped with a heatsink and is definitely compatible with the PS5. After all, it is on our list of the best PS5 SSDs.

This ships from Amazon Germany, but there are no shipping fees. I’d highly recommend jumping on this if you need more storage on PS5 (and let’s face it: everyone does).

Sony DualSense controller on wooden table

The DualSense controller doesn’t get many discounts today: not even Black Friday offered any significant discounts on the AU$119.95 controller. The rarity of the PS5’s premium gamepad deals is a bit of a problem because these things are very prone to sticking and triggering button wear (I’ve needed to upgrade mine annually). All that said, AU$84 for a new DualSense on Amazon is worth paying for, even if you don’t need one right now. That price is only available on certain models, e.g The Galactic Purple casethe Nova Pink and that Starlight blue. The sterling silver model adds an extra buck at a price of AU$85, while DualSense Edge currently costs AU$300: AU$39.95 cheaper than usual.
