Nintendo Switch 2 reveal date ‘leaked’ with online countdown

The Nintendo Switch 2 could be officially revealed a lot sooner than you might think, if a leaker’s latest post is to be believed.

Spotted in Switch 2 Subredditis believed to have been a Chinese Weibo leaker countdown using Fibonacci sequence numbers since December 21st with this expiry on January 8th.

The same leaker previously leaked the entire Nintendo Direct event back in June, claiming the console could be unveiled in January.

This could therefore suggest that the countdown is on for the Switch 2 to be announced on January 8, especially if other recent reports are to be believed which claim that Nintendo is keen to officially announce the console as soon as possible after all the latest leaks that have happened. .

None of this has been confirmed by Nintendo.

Elsewhere, someone believed to be a Nintendo Switch 2 developer shared some “pleasant surprises” before the Switch sequel was announced.

Someone recently claimed to have gotten their hands on the Switch 2 console itself.

A mountain of leaks apparently from accessory companies have shown “actual dimensions” of the Switch 2, four new features have been “confirmed” and there’s been an in-depth look at a 3D-printed model of what’s understood to be based on the specifications provided by Nintendo.

Another accessory company may have also accidentally shared the first “official” look at what the Switch 2 looks like in a trailer as well, and a video posted on a Chinese video-sharing platform appeared to show how the new The Joy-Cons will appear.

Speculation continues to swirl about what games the Switch 2 will launch with, and details on how the console will likely support faster microSD cards were spotted in a Nintendo job ad.

The Japanese company confirmed that an announcement about the Switch 2 will still be made before the end of the current fiscal year, in other words before the end of March 2025, but fans have vented frustration over the wait.

Shuntaro Furukawa, president at Nintendo, confirmed that the Switch 2 console will have backwards compatibility with Nintendo Switch games, although it’s currently unknown if that means physical games will be playable on the Switch 2 or it’s just software , which can be downloaded, will work.
