Bloodborne 2 leaves fans seriously divided after PlayStation announcement

Here we go again

FromSoftware fans have been on the edge of their seats in recent weeks following PlayStation’s move to buy the company.

If successful, it could change the way future FromSoftware games are made and published, including sequels to Blood borne and Fire Ring to name a few.

To be clear, PlayStation wants to buy Kadokawa Corporation, FromSoftware’s parent company, and has since entered into a business partnership with it, but has yet to acquire the entire company.

Now on one hand this could be good news. After all, PlayStation has the finances to support and promote whatever FromSoftware decides to do next, and that could open the door to a Blood borne sequel or remake.

However, fans are not at all happy with the idea, mainly due to the obvious negative of the PlayStation potentially ruining everything.

You can find plenty of Reddit threads saying the same thing, FromSoftware must not be owned for the benefit of future soul-born titles.

“This is not going to end well. I’d really like to be wrong, but I don’t believe it’s going to end well” read a fan’s reaction to the idea.

However, other fans were a bit more dismissive of the acquisition, suggesting that no matter what happened, PlayStation never intended to touch Blood borne IP again outside of maybe a remaster or easter eggs in other games.

“Bloodborne fans need to stop being like that guy with a haircut that went out of style 20 years ago,” said one user.

“I’m just praying to the elder gods Sony won’t do it Blood borne Lego or a Games As a Service version of Blood borne. But I don’t think Sony cares that much about From Software, they are much more interested in Kodakawa’s share in the Anime sector”, added another.

Who knows what the intention is behind the intended acquisition, but if it does Blood borne fans are better off. I don’t think we would ever get that sequel anyway, in fact I don’t even think we should.
