Did you get a PS5 for Christmas? Here are the best free games to get and not spend an extra cent

Buy one PlayStation 5 (or a Pro) is already a heavy investment without spending more on games to play on it. The Sony console is one of the most popular gifts this holiday season, and the logical thing is that those who receive it start playing from the moment they complete the initial setup. But there’s a lot more life than Fortnite in the PS Store right now, so we’re giving you some examples to make your Christmas Day that much more special. Remember: all free-to-play games do not require a PS Plus subscription to play.

These are the best free games to enjoy on your PS5 this Christmas

  • Genshin impact | The big game miHoYo. Sometimes it feels like Breath of the Wild; others, a light but engaging RPG open world. The anime aspect gives it the necessary twist for a title that is a classic in the free-to-play catalog. It is one of the best options to get carried away doing missions for hours.
  • My first Gran Turismo | If you can’t afford Gran Turismo 7, Polyphony Digital offers this curated experience that revives some legendary elements of the franchise. You can drive 18 cars on 3 legendary tracks. It contains some routes designed to learn how to play, including the license tests that bring so much joy to fans in installments after installments. Highly recommended.
  • Astro’s Playroom | It comes pre-installed on all PS5s, but you can see it and think it’s bullshit. Not at all. Astro Bot, its older brother, is GOTY 2024 for a reason. With this game you have a demonstration of what it is capable of in 2-3 hours of play. It’s a piece of platforming that allows you to revive some of the legendary PlayStation licenses (and in the process review PlayStation history).
  • The finals | Some of the creators of Battlefield left DICE to found a studio whose first work is the one we are discussing in these lines. If we talk about competitive shooters, The Finals is one of the best today. Destruction galore in games condenses into action galore and improbable situations. Highly recommended.
  • Rocket League | The best football game is not played with humans, but with rocket-powered cars. Rocket League has been another legend of the multiplayer network since it launched on PS4, but the game continues to enjoy excellent health. Caution: If you feel like you’re getting better quickly while playing, you’ll be hooked for a long time.
  • Zenless Zone Zero | From the creators of Genshin Impact, this game combines elements that exude personality. Persona’s cycles and social lives with the hack and slash of a Devil May Cry. It is a game that stands out by always offering quality content, with rhythm and without rest. And, by the way, much more generous than other games from the company.
  • Fate 2 | There are few shooters better than the Bungie classic. Heading into the decade, it continues to occupy an important position in the console’s catalog. While you can’t play raids and some content without PS Plus, the main content isn’t limited in any way. It is a shooting game that you must try once in your life.
  • The Sims 4 | Yes, The Sims 4 base is available at no additional cost on console. You will be able to use all the basic features of the game and elements that it brought in its original release. From there you can get expansions that include more game systems to its structure, but what it means to raise families and live life can be done without paying a dime.
  • Marvel Rivals | It is one of the games that has created a sensation in the last part of the year. Imagine all of Marvel’s heroes and villains together in a sort of third-person Overwatch.
  • Batman – The Telltale Series | If you want something more focused on the narrative, one of the best games from Telltale (creators of the video game adaptation of The Walking Dead) is offering its first episode for free. It’s about Batman. It’s hard not to like Batman, so why cheat ourselves.
