Mega Millions winning numbers 12/24/24: Jackpot hits $1 billion

One lucky American could be in for a very happy holiday as the Mega Millions jackpot increased again on Tuesday night and is now at a billion dollars.

The after-tax take-away would be a lump sum of $448.8 million for the Christmas Eve drawing.

The estimated jackpot Tuesday night would be the seventh largest jackpot in Mega Millions history if someone wins.

“Tis the season of giving, and today we are thrilled to raise the Mega Millions jackpot for the Christmas Eve drawing to $1 billion,” said Joshua Johnston, executive director of the Mega Millions Consortium, in a press release.

How to play Mega Millions

To buy a ticket, visit your local convenience store, gas station, or grocery store—and in a handful of states, you can buy tickets online.

To play, select six numbers. Five numbers will be white balls from 1 to 70. The Gold Mega Ball is a number between 1 and 25.

If you think the odds are against you, ask for a “Quick selection“or one”Easy choice,” the computer will randomly generate the numbers for you.

Players can add “Megaplier” for $1, which can increase non-top prize winnings by two, three, four or five times. Megapliers are drawn before the Mega Millions numbers on Tuesday and Friday.
