Hartford’s Aetna releases Pink Ties the week before Christmas

HARTFORD, CT — For the third time in as many months, a Hartford-based insurance company is announcing another wave of layoffs for staff associated with the Hartford facility in this round coming days before Christmas.

CVS Health, the corporate operator of Hartford-based Aetna, sent message on Friday 20 Dec. to the state Department of Labor and Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam about several layoffs assigned to Aetna’s 151 Farmington Ave. location.

According to the announcement, 164 employees are targeted for dismissal between the 15th and 28th. February 2025.

While they were affiliated with the Hartford office, CVS Health said none of the employees work at the site but report to the facility.

CVS said they work from home, with most living out of state.

“All employees who will be terminated as a result of this action have been notified of their specific separation dates and that their separation from employment will be permanent,” CVS wrote in the release.

The eliminated positions are tied to the “unexpected loss of a contract in Kansas,” according to CVS.

Of the 164 workers scheduled for unemployment, only three live in Connecticut, the rest live in several states scattered across the country, mostly in Kansas, according to CVS.

This latest announcement comes after CVS announced the layoffs of 416 employees who reported to Hartford in October, and another 42 employees last month.
