Christmas Eve in the Coachella Valley: Building westerly winds and cooler temperatures ahead

Merry Christmas Eve, Coachella Valley! No problems as you head out this morning, but we are tracking some changes as we head into the afternoon. A wind advisory is in effect for the Coachella Valley at 16.00 this afternoon to midnight. Expect sustained winds between 20-30 mph and local gusts as strong as 50 mph. If you have Christmas decorations outside that tend to be easily blown over, you can bring them inside or secure them.

Some of the effects of this fast moving low pressure system will be showers in the coastal areas, but we should stay dry here in the valley.

Temperatures will be cooler this afternoon, with highs in the mid-70s.
