Dallas weather: Christmas Eve forecast full of rain and storms

A storm system will move into North Texas and start your Christmas Eve on a wet note.

Christmas Eve weather forecast: Rain and storm

Tuesday’s storms will increase quickly in the morning with increasing rain and isolated storms.

This means some heavier rain will be possible in the strongest storms.

In the afternoon, the heaviest rain will occur from the east and south of the Metroplex as the cold front descends.

The worst case scenario is that we could see some small hail and gusts, but also the risk of flooding.

In general, the risk of severe weather is low.

There may be light rain and light rain out to the east at the end of the day.

Weather forecast for Christmas Day: Mild, cloudy

We wake up to relatively mild temperatures on Christmas morning. It will be close to 50, but muggy with high humidity and lots of clouds.

It may be difficult to break that cloud cover as we get an inversion layer in the afternoon.

It will keep us somewhat cool in the 50s.

Thursday Forecast: Storm, possibly hail

The next strong system moves in quickly on Thursday. A rapidly rotating pocket of cold air will have a strong lift ahead of it.

Storms will blow up quickly in the morning to midday hours with quarter-sized hail and some winds gusting more than 80 miles per hour.

Because of the deep surface moisture from the previous storm, these storms will be elevated.

That may not be the case to the south and east, so the worst storms could be in East Texas or Southeast Texas.

The storms will dissipate in the afternoon.

7-day weather forecast

There is another disturbance heading into Friday, but moisture will be limited for this one.

Temperatures are expected to return to the mid-60s under partly sunny skies and some lower chances of showers.

This weekend we will enter the Pacific air again. Although a quick cold front moves through Saturday, there is nothing really cold behind it, just a wind shift.

Sunday and Monday we could see temperatures climb into the 70’s!
