NYC Police Commissioner Names Interim Chief of Internal Affairs Amid Staff Changes

NEW YORK (PIX11)– On Saturday, New York City Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch immediately named Edward A. Thompson interim chief of internal affairs.

This announcement comes on the heels of NYC’s top uniformed police officer – Jeffery Maddery, resigning amid sexual misconduct allegations. Hours after Maddery’s resignation, former Internal Affairs chief Miguel Iglesias was relieved of his command, according to officials.

“Above all else, the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau must always be dedicated to maintaining integrity and rooting out corruption in all its forms,” ​​said NYPD Commissioner Tisch. “It is an essential function which is essential to preserve the honor and nobility of the profession and maintain the public’s trust. Chief Thompson is up to the task.”

Thompson is a 38-year veteran of the NYPD. He is a graduate of the 207th session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
