The Commanders needed every bit of that win over Philadelphia. It was a stark reminder of all the good vibes this team created at the start of the season, when Jayden Daniels made us aware that he is the next star quarterback to arrive in this league. It’s one thing to look up the Titans and Saints, which the Commanders had done before Sunday’s Eagles game. It’s a completely different thing when you beat the hottest team in the league, a team that had won nine in a row. Washington had lost to Philadelphia in the middle of a three-game losing streak earlier in the season. The Commanders had also lost much of their early-season luster as the offense slowed and Daniels dealt with a rib injury. Sunday’s win told us that there is still plenty of fight in this team. Trailing by 14 at one point, the Commanders committed five turnovers and still won. This has already been a rewarding season in Washington because this team went second overall in last year’s draft when it selected Daniels. The Commanders likely won’t do much damage in the postseason — they’d likely end up facing Detroit, Philadelphia or Minnesota on the road in the first round — but the future remains bright.
