In the 1989 film “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation“, Clark Griswold takes great pride in creating the perfect family Christmas.

And while a pristine tree and an in-ground pool prove out of reach, “Christmas Vacation” star Chevy Chase made the most of his recent trip to Peoria by adding a stop at the restaurant One world Tuesday morning.

The iconic actor and comedian, one of the original cast members of “Saturday Night Live,” entered One World with a group of four other people, employee Quincy Fussner said. Chase was in Peoria for a 35th anniversary screening of “Christmas Vacation” and live conversation at the Peoria Civic Center. That show was Monday night.

Chase visited at least two other eateries while in the Peoria area. He ate at Jim’s Steakhouse on Saturday and at 520 The cafe in East Peoria on Monday morning prior to the show.

While at One World, the comedian ordered orange juice and a ham breakfast sandwich. Fussner said Chase was kind to the staff and they had good interactions with him.

“He was polite,” Fussner said. “Sure made some jokes and other than that he was a good customer to wait on in general.”
