Michael Penix, Jr., barring injury, will start the rest of the season

When asked this week if quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. will start for the rest of the season, Falcons coach Raheem Morris was non-committal.

Behind the scenes, the team is not noncommittal.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation, Penix will start the rest of the season, subject to injury.

It’s no surprise, but it hasn’t been specifically stated.

There are only three games left in the regular season in 2024. However, if the Falcons can make up just one game in the standings, they will catch the Bucs and take the NFC South crown.

It remains to be seen how Penix plays. He has had very limited reps with the starting offense before this week. And, we’re told, he didn’t even know it was a possibility until he was told it was happening.

Regardless, it happened. And he will take the reins and keep them for the rest of 2024 – at least.
