The house ‘Home Alone’ is sold for over DKK 5 million. USD before Christmas: Look inside

The “Home Alone” house is officially sold, seven months after it was put on the market and just in time for Christmas.

The 5-bedroom, 6-bathroom home located in Winnetka, Illinois, was listed for sale for $5.25 million in late May, according to Zillow listing. The home’s exterior was used as the McCallister family home in both the 1990 Christmas classic “Home Alone” and the 1992 sequel “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.”

The “Home Alone” house gained national attention shortly after it listed, leading listing agents from Coldwell Banker Realty to receive an offer less than a week after it listed, according to People.

Even Macaulay Culkin, who played Kevin McCallister in the movies, thought about buying the house when it first came on the market.

“I had half a mind to buy it – just for giggles,” he shared Weekly entertainment earlier this month. “I have children. I’m a busy man.”

“We are thrilled with the way this home captured everyone’s attention and hearts for its well-deserved place in movie history and the timeless holiday memories it evokes,” listing agents Dawn McKenna and Katie Moor said in a statement obtained by People.

Coldwell Banker Realty did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for comment.

The house “Home Alone” was built in 1921 and is over 9,000 square meters. It also has four fireplaces, two laundry rooms, two hot tubs, a wet bar, recreation area, a fitness center, a private cinema room and an indoor sports court.

Coldwell Banker Realty described the home as “legendary vacation dream home, reimagined for modern luxury” in its online directory.

“The stately Georgian residence of ‘Home Alone’ fame presents a rare opportunity to own one of the most iconic film residences in American pop culture,” the listing reads. “Located on a quaint, tree-lined street in the heart of East Winnetka and elegantly positioned behind a wrought-iron gate, the property epitomizes classic Chicago suburban architecture.”
