Gus Edwards scores second TD, Chargers cut Broncos lead to 24-19

The Broncos have given up more points to the Chargers in the second half.

With 2:58 left in the third quarter, a Gus Edwards 5-yard touchdown cut Denver’s lead to 24-19.

The Broncos scored on their opening drive of the second half with a 41-yard field goal by Wil Lutz, extending their lead to 23-13.

On the ensuing drive, the Chargers entered the red zone with a 19-yard pass from Justin Herbert to Stone Smartt, putting the ball at Denver’s 15.

But the Broncos sacked Herbert for a 10-yard loss on the next play, setting up a second-and-20. The Chargers were likely to settle for a field goal, but linebacker Justin Strand hit Herbert as he slipped on a 7-yard scramble, which gave Los Angeles a free first down.

On the next play, Edwards took a move to the left and easily came in for his second rushing touchdown of the game.

In particular, Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman is questionable to return with a groin injury. He had missed the past few weeks with a groin problem and was active for Thursday’s game after being questionable for the contest.
