Erie Insurance employees distribute food to local students before winter break

As school children go home for the holidays, Erie Insurance is working with the Erie School District to make sure kids don’t go hungry during recess.

A team of Erie Insurance employees donated, packed and then distributed 500 bags of food to students at Pfeiffer-Burleigh Elementary School before winter break.

This is the eighth year of this program, which provides students with a variety of easy-to-prepare foods, including cereal, pasta, peanut butter and more.

“It’s very heartwarming, the students are very excited, they look forward to this, and it helps right between that break between Christmas and when they come back to school after the new year,” said Alicia Pelkowski, vice president of customer service at Erie Insurance.
