Travis Hunter furious over attack on fiancée Leanna Lenee

Travis Hunter said his fiancée Leanna Lenee got drunk and cried herself to sleep after she faced criticism following his Heisman Trophy win Saturday night.

Some took issue with Lenee’s demeanor in a video that surfaced online that showed her looking stoic on a couch while Hunter, the two-way Colorado star, posed for pictures during a meet-and-greet with fans at his own event.

At one point, the pair appeared to have a serious conversation, but it’s unclear what was said.

After the Heisman ceremony, Hunter sent a stern message to critics, explaining that Lenee felt hurt.

“You never had a girl, so why is everyone talking about me,” Hunter, a wide receiver and cornerback for the Buffaloes, said in a live stream on Twitch. “Find someone else to talk about… Go talk about your girl. Find a girl. Go find a life. Don’t worry about what I’m up to. I know what I got.

“My girl has been with me for five years. You just started talking about me… You all need to do something else with your lives. Clickbait sites stop, you better stop, I tell you. There will something bad happens to you guys (if you) keep doing it. You better stop it. I’m not playing.”

Hunter went on to explain that in the viral video — where fans claimed Lenee looked miserable — he and Lenee were talking about his family and coordinating where they were going that night.

“You hate me, you hate my girl,” he said. “I feel the same way she feels. We’re inseparable. We’re together. If she’s in pain, I’m in pain (and vice versa)… she’s still sleeping. She’s lumpy. You know when you’re hurt, you just cry yourself to sleep and then you’re gone. She’s been drinking OD tonight for no reason.”

Hunter, who may be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, encouraged people to send positive messages to Lenee

“I don’t want her to sleep sad,” Hunter said. “It’s hard for me because I can’t even help her.”

Hunter and Lenee revealed their engagement in February after going public with their relationship in 2022.

He thanked his fiancée in his Heisman Trophy speech.

“I never thought I’d be in this position,” Hunter said, according to NFL.com. “It’s crazy. Your faith will take you far. It’s actually crazy, man. Thank you, thank you, thank you. First, I want to thank my fiancee and my mom. They’ve been with me since I first had surgery my freshman year at college. They never took a step away from me. All the times I didn’t want to wake up and even watch football. You stayed with me is very grateful for all of you.”

Another video on Sunday, Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders appeared to tell Lenee to stand and applaud Hunter when he was announced as the Heisman winner.

Lenee’s Instagram profile has since been changed to private.

It wasn’t the first time fans focused on the couple’s relationship.

In early December, another video showed Lenee appearing upset with Hunter after his stellar performance in Colorado’s 52-0 rout of Oklahoma State in its regular-season finale.

Lenee addressed it on her Instagram, explaining that the moment was taken out of context.

“These photos were taken 30 seconds after that clip by the way. Please remember that social media is not real and 5 seconds is not enough to understand a situation,” Lenee wrote, according to the Daily Mail. “Also, you never know what a person can handle mentally. Thank you baby for always trying to cheer me up. You are truly the best partner a girl could ever ask for.”

Hunter beat out Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Miami quarterback Cam Ward and Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel for college football’s most prestigious honor on Saturday.

Hunter finished the regular season with 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Hunter is expected to play in the Alamo Bowl against BYU before becoming one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
