DPS trooper critically injured after being hit on the Dallas North Tollway

What we know:

A Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper was struck while responding to a crash on a Dallas freeway in north Dallas early Monday morning.

The trooper was working a single-car wreck in the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway near Keller Springs Road shortly after 1 p.m. 12:40 p.m.

Another vehicle collided with the trooper’s SUV before hitting the trooper.

The driver of the other vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.

The trooper was transported to Plano Presbyterian Hospital where they remain in critical condition.

All northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway are closed as officials investigate the crash.

What we don’t know:

It is unclear what caused the driver to lose control and hit the trooper.

Authorities have not released the soldier’s identity.

What’s next:
