Lainey Wilson has made a name for herself in the country music world with her exceptional talent and down-to-earth personality. Despite her rising fame and countless appearances, the singer recently opened up about something that might surprise her fans – she still feels “nervous” before stepping on stage. In an open chat, Lainey emphasized how important it is for her to stay in touch with who she really is. She said she always makes sure to feel like “Lainey” — the friend, sister, daughter, dog mom and aunt — before she performs.

According to her, embracing these roles helps her bring out the best version of herself as an artist.

The Watermelon Moonshine singer reflected on the current state of country music and shared her excitement about being a part of its transformation. “Country is having its moment and I’m proud to be part of the movement,” she said during an interview with People magazine, clearly excited to see how the genre continues to grow and evolve.

Even with her experience, Lainey admitted she gets “nervous” every time she performs — whether it’s for a small group of 20 people, a crowd of 200 or an audience of “40 million households tuned in to the Dallas Cowboys- the game.” She explained: “If I stop getting nervous, I have something to worry about.” That nervous energy, it seems, is part of what drives her to deliver her best every time.

Like many women in the entertainment industry, Wilson’s journey has not been easy. She acknowledged that while there has been progress for female artists, there is still work to be done. “We’re not quite there,” she admitted.

However, the Heart Like A Truck vocalist also pointed out something remarkable about women in country music. “The thing about girls is that they ‘break through’ because it’s hard to break through and they are able to ‘stand the test of time,'” she said, highlighting the resilience and longevity of female artists in the field.

Between her top songs, hosting gigs at the CMA Awards alongside Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning, and appearances at events like the NFL halftime show, Lainey Wilson continues to prove why she’s one of the most celebrated voices in country music today.
