Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth send heartwarming message to Randy Moss after cancer diagnosis

Towards the end of Sunday Night Football, Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth took a moment to think about Randy Moss, who is now battling cancer.

IN the final minute and a half from Green Bay vs. Seattle Sunday, Collinsworth would notice Moss given what he’s been dealing with medically recently. That’s Moss revealed his cancer diagnosis last week after a procedure and recovery for a form of the disease he had developed, which has also led to him stepping away from his role as an analyst for ESPN now.

“Can we say hi and wish Randy Moss well, right? I mean, fighting cancer as we speak,” Collinsworth said. “Just one of the greatest players in the history of our game. When he came on the scene, it exploded just fire on the spot.”

“I’ve had the chance to work with him on a few different things. You just love being around him. You know, he had a reputation as a player like, ‘Ah, he’s a bit rough, whatever’. Not at all. I mean, just not at all,” Collinsworth said. “Just thinking of you. Praying for you.”

That led to a story from Tirico from a ceremony he attended in New England back in June that reminded him how beloved Moss is in the NFL.

“I got a chance to be, six months ago, up in Foxborough when they honored Tom Brady. They packed the stadium. It was a great night,” Tirico recalled. “Randy Moss came out and before he could say a word, he received a standing ovation from the 200 ex-Patriots in attendance and the entirety of Gillette Stadium. Just an appreciation for the big season with Tom and what he meant to them and means to a lot of people around the league.”

“Do a great job with ESPN on Sunday. So, Randy, we’re praying for you and thinking of you, man,” Tirico said.
