Celtic vs Rangers Premier Sports Cup final set for NO FLY ZONE as police introduce surprise Hampden restriction

CELTIC and Rangers meet in the Premier Sports Cup final this weekend.

It’s a shootout that means more than just silverware this time around, as both teams look set to go one ahead of their rivals in trophies won.

Both are locked on 118 major honours, and the victor would grab the bragging rights which have been in Glasgow’s West End since 1938.

But the Hoops have made up plenty of ground on Rangers over the past two decades, bringing them closer to finally taking the title as Scotland’s most successful club.

But as the fixture approaches, there are plenty of security measures being put in place at Hampden.

And that includes a recently announced NO FLY ZONE in the airspace above the national stadium.

Police Scotland confirmed the restriction on Saturday in the run-up to the match, which will apply from 13.00 to 19.00 on Sunday 15 December.

A statement from Police Scotland read: “An air restriction zone will be in place in the area around Hampden Park in Glasgow between 1pm and 7pm on Sunday 15 December.

“No unmanned aircraft are permitted in the area within a radius of one nautical mile of the stadium, up to an altitude of 1,000 feet, without permission from Police Scotland during this period.”

It’s going to be a brilliant clash, with both teams coming into the game in good form.

Philippe Clement’s men are unbeaten in their last nine games, including a 4-1 win over Nice in the Europa League and a valuable point against Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur in midweek.

But Celtic are unbeaten domestically this season and have also been in good European form as they sit comfortably in the Champions League play-off zone above the likes of Manchester City and PSG.

Meanwhile, Rangers have announced a new permanent chairman of the club.
