Electric vehicle caused fire at Northshore apartments, Chattanooga Fire Department says

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — We’re learning more about what caused the Northshore apartment fire late last month.

The Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD) stated that the cause was accidental and “electrical in nature.”

This incident is the fire department’s first large-scale incident involving an electric vehicle (EV).

CFD also reported that two vehicles near the EV were on fire and most of the cars in the garage have heat damage.

Additional smoke damage was caused to the businesses and apartments above the parking garage.

Some residents were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

Those residents have since been treated and released.

This fire occurred on November 22, 2024 at 1:30 a.m. at 417 Frazier Avenue.
