‘Trolls gonna troll’…UFC fan favorite Adrian Yanez breaks his silence following UFC Tampa loss

UFC fan favorite Adrian Yañez issued his first public remarks since a loss to Daniel Marcos at UFC Tampa.

Adrian Yañez’s bid to get back into the bantamweight Top 15 fell short against Daniel Marcos at UFC Tampa. After three rounds of competition, Yañez lost by split decision to drop his third fight over his last four appearances.

Yañez’s loss was further complicated by a nasty eye poke he suffered early in the fight. After Marcos accidentally poked Yañez in the eye, the former got Dana White’s Contender series the standout seemed to have trouble with his timing on his feet and couldn’t withstand Marcos’ barrage.

While the game’s scoring was debatable, the injury Yañez suffered was too much to overcome late on. But despite the eye poke, Yañez does not blame the offense for the defeat.

Adrian Yañez reveals ‘eye burned’ after mid-fight jab at UFC Tampa

In a recent post to XYañez addressed the controversial loss at UFC Tampa.

“Big shoutout to everyone who supported me, trolls will troll, it is what it is,” Yañez said. “The real homies stay by my side… I could blame the eye poke, the vision was blurry, the eye was burning but I kept on fighting, that s*** is on me… no one else can blame me than me.

“The fight was close, just let it slide guys. I try to put bangers on every single time I apologize guys. But shoutout to everyone who still supports me, love you.”

Coming into UFC Tampa, former DWCS standout Yañez scored a first-round TKO over Vinicius Salvador in May. He overcame the first two losses of his UFC tenure, following recent defeats to Jonathan Martinez and Rob Font.

Yañez burst into the bantamweight Top 15 following victories over Tony Kelley, Davey Grant and Randy Costa. He earned post-fight performance bonuses in each of his first five UFC wins.

Adrian Yañez looks to avoid another losing streak after UFC Tampa

The 31-year-old Yañez remains a talented bantamweight to watch entering 2025. His boxing is among the best in the bantamweight division and makes him a matchup nightmare for many rising 135lbers.

Prior to being signed through DWCS, Yañez made a name for himself in promotions such as LFA and Fury FC. As of this writing, he is 17-6 in his professional career.

Yañez will look to bounce back in a big way in his next UFC appearance. In the meantime, he will look to get healthy and look forward to another potentially high-profile year in the Octagon.
