Injury update: Ajer, Jensen, Janelt and Nunes

Brentford boss Thomas Frank gave a positive update on Kristoffer Ajer and Vitaly Janelt ahead of the Bees’ Premier League game against Chelsea on Sunday.

Ajer was on the bench for the 4-2 win over Newcastle United last weekend, having missed six games with a foot problem before that, while Janelt was unavailable for that win at the Gtech Community Stadium.

However, there was less positive news about the fitness of Mathias Jensen (hamstring) and Gustavo Nunes (back).

“Everyone from the last game should be available,” Frank said. “Vitaly Janelt should be available and involved in the squad on Sunday, so that’s positive.”

On Ajer, he added: “He was on the bench so he is also ready and available to start.

“Unfortunately, Jensen is a few more weeks away before he’s ready, so it’s a bit of a blow – he’s an important player for us. Fortunately, other players have stepped up, like (Yehor) Yarmoliuk against Newcastle.

“Nunes: the update there is that unfortunately it’s going to be a while. He played the game behind closed doors against Cardiff City and he had the stress fracture in his lower back which hasn’t healed as well as we wanted it to.

“He could certainly develop but we want to be on top of it; he is very young so there is no need to force it, he has plenty of time and we can be patient.”

Rico Henry (knee), Aaron Hickey (hamstring) and Josh Dasilva (knee) remain out.
