Second round of severe weather possible tomorrow afternoon

Second round of severe weather possible tomorrow afternoon

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – After an active day of heavy rain, thunderstorms and heavy activity, we’re gearing up for another round tomorrow that could bring even more serious potential into the evening hours tomorrow.

WEATHER ALERT DAY: SATURDAY

Following on from Friday’s severe weather scare, we’ve got another series of storms and severe potential coming into Saturday. Cloudy skies in the morning will turn to showers and storms in the late morning. Highs will climb into the upper 60s and lower 70s for our highs tomorrow with showers and storms throughout the day. The threats arrive after dark and the rain is expected to continue overnight. The line of storms with the most severe potential arrives well after dark, around 10 p.m. 8 p.m., and moves through the Meridian metro area around 9 p.m., but departs shortly after 22/23. All threats are on the table, with the main threat being strong winds over 65 miles per hour and heavy rain, but the possibility of a tornado or damaging hail isn’t out of the question either.

Fortunately, the weather improves quickly behind the difficult ones on Saturday. Clouds will clear on Sunday with highs in the mid-60s and clear skies. Sunny skies on Monday will bring highs in the upper 60s.

Overnight conditions Monday and into Tuesday will bring another cold front through and a slight chance of rain clearing Tuesday morning. Tuesday’s highs won’t climb into the lower 60s with partly cloudy skies clearing into the afternoon.

LOOKING FORWARD: NEW YEAR’S DAY

We’re ringing in the new year with highs in the mid-50s and mostly sunny skies! 2025 starts cooler thanks to northerly winds bringing in cold dry air from the north. Thursday and Friday will also be cool and sunny, with highs in the mid and upper 50s.
