Inside Chris Rock’s Life Now As He Prepares To Host ‘SNL’ (Exclusive Source)

Chris Rock is getting ready to host Saturday Night Live for the fourth time.

On Dec. 14, the actor, 59, will serve as host of the comedy sketch series for the first time since 2020, when he started the show’s 46th season amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rock, which was featured on SNL from 1990 to 1993 will also take the stage for the first time since the 2022 Oscar event with Will Smith.

While it’s unclear if there will be a sketch referencing the drama β€” an insider says it’s not being ruled out β€” another source tells PEOPLE that, regardless, Rock is “fine” now.

“He’s looking forward to concentrating on his comedy and career, and he’s writing a ton,” the source continues.

Speaking specifically about the Smith incident, the source adds, β€œHe talked about during his Netflix special (selective outrage) and a little bit in the press, but has since moved on.”

Rock, who most recently produced an animated version of his show Everyone hates Chris called Everyone still hates Chris, has also worked on several upcoming films, i.a I’m Maurice and Misty Greenwhich he also wrote.

As for his dating life? Another insider notes that he is not seriously dating anyone.

He was previously linked to actress Lake Bell in 2022 after the two were spotted holidaying in Croatia together.

At the time, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the duo “have been seeing each other for a few weeks,” adding, “They’re getting to know each other and seem to be having fun.”

The New York City-based star, who raised daughters Lola, 22, and Zahra, 20, in the posh suburb of Alpine, New Jersey, with ex-wife Malaak Compton-Rock, remains a proud father and a friendly co-parent with Compton-Rock.

The couple’s daughter Lola studies in Paris, while Zahra studies at USC.

Rock and Compton-Rock were married in 1996 and separated in 2014, finalizing their divorce in 2018.

Since then, Compton-Rock has been linked to Eric Maurice, who was once married to Sheryl Lee Ralph.

Saturday Night Live airs this weekend on NBC.
