Austin police investigate ‘shooting/stabbing’ incident at Lakeline Mall

Austin police officers are investigating a “shoot/stab hotshot” incident at Lakeline Mall Thursday afternoon, according to a post on X.

Limited information was immediately available, but Austin police said there had been an “isolated incident” at Lakeline Mall in Cedar Park, adding that it did not appear to be an active shooting. Shortly after As of 5 p.m., Austin police and fire rescue crews were still making their way through the mall and began clearing it as a precaution, according to a post on X.

It was initially unclear if there had been any injuries or deaths, but Austin-Travis County EMS said it had not treated any patients in connection with the incident.

The Austin police public information office declined to comment, referring the American-Statesman to the department’s post on X.

Police are asking people to stay away from the scene while officers continue their investigation.

A press conference is set to take place at an undetermined time Thursday evening.
