Trevor Etienne provides a crucial injury update ahead of the Sugar Bowl

Georgia football desperately needs some luck with injuries to fall their way into their backcourt. Yes, it’s football and everyone expects injuries to happen, but the amount the UGA running back has suffered this season is far from what anyone should expect.

And those injuries are starting to mount again as both Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson are expected to miss the January 1st Sugar Bowl. So that once again puts Georgia in a difficult spot as what is a very deep running back space is shrinking. extremely fast.

With these two running backs doomed, everyone now turns their attention to Trevor Etienne who is the Bulldogs’ top running back this season but has been dealing with his own injury. Etienne suffered a rib injury against Florida, which he re-injured in practice after the Ole Miss game, causing him to miss the final three games of the regular season.

Etienne returned for the SEC Championship game against Texas, finding the end zone twice, but there is still a slight concern about his health as this was his first game back. However, those concerns were allayed when Etienne updated how his ribs have been doing since this injury.

“I definitely want to wear it (protective jacket), but my ribs are a lot better,” Etienne said via uga.rivals.com. “It’s no pain in there at all, but I definitely want to wear it.”

Etienne and Nate Frazier must stay healthy

After finding out earlier this week that Carson Beck will be out for it all College football playoffit became very clear that Georgia will have to rely a lot more on their running game. And that endeavor became more daunting after the latest injury updates to Georgia’s backcourt.

Georgia still has two elite options in the backfield in Etienne and the freshman Nate Frazierbut things can get lopsided if one of the players gets injured during the playoffs. Georgia was able to survive with just Frazier for a few games at the end of the regular season, but that will be much harder to accomplish in the postseason.

So hopefully they both stay healthy because that will give Georgia the best chance to win a national championship this year when everyone already doubts them so much.
