Notre Dame will gain Georgia Bulldogs this afternoon, and as the final game of the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, there is some data that appears to favor the Irish.
The first three games of the quarters have seen the team that played in the first round take an early lead and finish off their opponent who had a bye. It was on Tuesday Penn State jump out to a 17-7 halftime lead over Boise State, ultimately ending in a 31-14 Nittany Lions victory.
In the first match on New Year’s Day, Texas led 17-3 at halftime, but it got a little more difficult for it Longhorn as the game progressed. Arizona State forced the game into overtime, but in the end, Texas still won 39-31 in two overtimes.
Ohio State led 34-8 at halftime Oregon in the Rose Bowl, as they prevailed 41-21 over the top-ranked team in the CFP.
If this trend of teams having to have a good game out of the game, and eventually taking a loss, this could be very beneficial for Notre Dame as it faces the Bulldogs later today.
