Dan Orlovsky believes Jeremiah Smith would go No. 1 in the 2025 NFL Draft

Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith has been one of the best players, let alone receivers, in all of college football as a true freshman this year. He’s been so great that after his latest performance we’re starting to discuss his ability as a pro two years before he’s even eligible to be one.

On ‘Get Up’ Monday, Dan Orlovsky talked about Smith after his outing against the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl of the College Football Playoff. He stated that if Smith was able to be drafted this spring, he would go No. 1 overall in 2025.

“Well, they have a player that — if Jeremiah Smith came out in the draft this year, he would be number one,” Orlovsky said. “Not even close. He’d be a shoo-in to be the number one pick.

“In the playoffs, he has 13 catches for 204 yards and four touchdowns. The four touchdowns go on 37, 22, 43 and 45. They have the best player back in the playoffs. He would be the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft this year.”

With that, Orlovsky drew a comparison for Smith to one of the better receivers in league history from the last decade or so.

“He’s Julio Jones,” Orlovsky said.

Former Florida State and NFL quarterback EJ Manuel also agreed, as Smith is now just the latest great receiver from Columbus.

“This kid, Jeremiah Smith, man? He’s different,” Manuel said. “It seems like every single year they have a different receiver.”

Through 14 appearances in his first collegiate season, Smith now has 70 receptions for 1,224 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has received scores in 11 of those games, including three games with a pair of them, with two of them being their matchup so far in the CFP. So just in the playoffs, he’s averaged 6.5 catches for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Smith has been a sensation throughout this season at just 19 years old. But college will get to value him for two more full years before some franchise ends up with him in the future in 2027 at the earliest.
