WWE Survivor Series: WarGames preview and predictions

WWE Survivor Series: WarGames comes to you live from Vancouvers Rogers Arena in British Columbia, Canada. PLE goes down on Saturday 30 November with 7:00 PM ET as the prime showtime for US fans.

Speaking of main cards, WWE has confirmed five matches for their upcoming PLE. The event is set to feature superstars from both the RAW and SmackDown brands. With that being said, let’s get right into our WWE Survivor Series: WarGames preview and predictions.

LA Knight (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura – WWE United States Championship Match

Prelude: Shinsuke Nakamura dropped LA Knight with a cheap shot to set up their feud three weeks ago on SmackDown. Nakamura would have his first televised match in months on the final SmackDown before Survivor Series. The King of Strong Style defeated Andrade before blinding Knight with a mist when he tried to attack him.

Forecast: The entire build up, or lack thereof, to this feud has led this writer to believe that this would be another United States Title match. Nakamura’s return was a surprise. For someone who is extremely quick witted, Knight has been booked to look extremely weak in this feud. And it’s not a good sight. Either give the fans a good match or have Knight squash Nakamura for a quick win.

Bron Breaker (c) vs. Sheamus vs. Ludwig Kaiser – WWE Intercontinental Championship Match

Prelude: Ludwig Kaiser interfered in the Intercontinental Championship match between Sheamus and Bron Breaker on the 11/18 WWE RAW. Sheamus paid in kind the following week. All three men fought their way to the stage, prompting Adam Pearce to book them in one triple threat for Survivor Series: WarGames.

Forecast: Let Sheamus have this one. The Celtic Warrior needs the Intercontinental Championship (and the ultimate Grand Slam) before he retires. He has delivered banger after banger after banger week in and out. With Breakker reportedly set for a tweener role, he would ideally drop the title to Sheamus this Saturday. Sheamus, in turn, would put Kaiser over somewhere down the line.

Gunther (c) vs. Damian Priest – World Heavyweight Championship Match at Survivor Series: WarGames

Prelude: Gunther won the World Heavyweight Championship by beating Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam 2024. The pair resumed their feud after Priest won a number one contender’s match for the title on RAW. The two spent the following weeks taunting and beating each other, with Priest getting the upper hand on most occasions.

Forecast: Priest’s “Street King” gimmick is perfect for his current feud with Gunther. The ring general seems to have lost his confidence. As Priest suggested, the pressure of staying on top is starting to take its toll. Plus, the loss to Cody Rhodes has rocked the champion. This writer does not expect Gunther to lose. He is a rare breed. But it will be a close contest.

Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Naomi, Iyo Sky and Bayley vs. Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton and Candice LeRae – Women’s WarGames Match

Prelude: Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez’s beef with Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill planted the seeds for the Women’s WarGames. IYO SKY entered the mix after earning herself a shot at the Women’s World Championship. On SmackDown, Naomi joined the babyfaces after failing to beat Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s Championship. Rhea Ripley made a surprise return from injury before Bayley replaced an injured Jade to complete the line-up.

Forecast: This match looks incredible on paper. Adding Candice LeRae to the heel team was a good idea. LeRae has been a part of some of the earliest editions of NXT WarGames, as have Ripley, Bianca and IYO. This writer wanted to see Jade compete in her first ever WarGames match, but her health comes first. As far as predictions go, the babyfaces will get the W. That said, it remains to be seen if Jade’s attacker(s) will be revealed this Saturday.

OGs vs. The New Bloodline in WWE Survivor Series: WarGames

Prelude: The crown jewel of PLE in 2024 saw Roman Reigns and The Usos lose to Solo Sikoa’s crew. Sami Zayn returned to his old group to even up the track’s game. But the Independents turned again in The New Bloodline’s favor when Bronson Reed joined them as the fifth member. After Seth Rollins refused to team with the OGs, Paul Heyman (who hadn’t appeared in months) returned with CM Punk to make it five on five for Survivor Series: WarGames.

Forecast: So many different layers to this story, and so many possible outcomes! How will Punk’s addition affect the outcome? Will Rollins show up in some way to make a difference? Does Solo Sikoa have some sinister plan? And what is The rocks schedule this Saturday? This writer strikes out when it comes to choosing sides. This is brilliant storytelling, so let’s not spoil the fun while we’re at it.

WrestleZone will have full coverage of WWE Survivor Series: WarGames when it airs on 11/30.
