Here is my Black Friday shopping list

skin care products

Many of our favorite anti-aging products are on sale for Black Friday. But don’t delay – these deals aren’t getting any younger. (Amazon)

It’s almost time for the biggest Black Friday deals of 2024, which for many shoppers means a once-a-year opportunity to score serious savings on tech and home goods (trust me, your uncle has been waiting all year to buy that solo Stove). But for me – a vain middle-aged beauty editor who is about to turn 52! – this is the moment to get big savings on all my favorite anti-aging skincare. There really is a Black Friday beauty sale to solve all my aging problems, from eye bags to a creepy neck to a sagging jaw. I test skin care solutions for a living, and while most anti-aging products are ineffective (or at least mainly overhyped), I also have dozens in my arsenal that have made a visible difference in my skin’s texture, clarity, firmness and brightness.

Let me be clear: I don’t necessarily expect any beauty product — discounted for Black Friday or not — to turn back the clock. It is a (bankruptcy) fool’s errand. But I try hundreds of products every year, and over time I’ve identified the tried-and-true ultra-hydrating creams, wrinkle-minimizing serums, and de-puffing eye masks that not only refresh my complexion, but also soothe my complexion. parched and tired cold weather skin. Sifting through the abundance of Black Friday 2024 beauty sales, I’m on the lookout for products with high-quality ingredients that I recognize from skincare brands that I trust with a proven track record of results.

The beauty deals below represent some of my all-time favorite products. Most are clinically proven or at least wildly well-reviewed.

This skin-soothing, color-correcting cream is made specifically to hide angry, red skin after a blemish (essentially the period between when you get a pimple to heal), but I find it works well for redness or dark spots on my face – especially broken capillaries around my nose, my weird red chin and brownish sun damage too.

It has the texture of a light, silky serum, absorbs quickly, and leaves areas where you want a “color correction” primed for your normal foundation or concealer. I can’t guarantee it will work as well for your skin as it does mine, but at $6 (half off!) it’s definitely worth a try.

There are plenty of expensive treatments and elixirs designed to reduce facial puffiness, promote collagen growth and improve the texture of aging skin, but the ancient art of facial rolling is the easiest, cheapest and arguably the most relaxing.

This high-quality jade roller and facial massage tool set has over 27,000 five-star reviews, and right now it’s more than half.

My beloved snail mucin from CosRx is excellent for evening skin tone and makes your face look softer and brighter overall. It’s won multiple awards, has over 55,000 five-star Amazon reviews, and impresses most beauty editors I know.

After using it for the first time (here’s my full review), my face was noticeably duller, and other users have raved about its ability to hydrate, repair, and improve skin dullness—all of which help wrinkles look less deep and creepy looking. When I tried it again this month, after a medi-spa laser treatment, I found it soothed and calmed my skin as it healed, giving it a healthy glow.

I’ve been loving this extra firming eye cream from Derma E, a real quality brand that makes natural, vegan and cruelty-free products that won’t cost you a week’s wages. Made with skin-revitalizing ingredients like copper peptides and plant stem cells, it’s clinically proven to improve elasticity and firmness, and it brightens darker skin tone under the eyes. I especially like it on my upper lids, where I’ve seen a noticeable difference in texture in just a few weeks.

More than 1,600 five-star reviewers also praise its lifting and firming benefits, calling it, “A miracle for your eyes – no time travel required!”

Although not exactly intended as a face cream, this ultra-rich moisturizer is used for that purpose by most seasoned beauty experts I know. It is extremely moisturizing, packed with nourishing plant-derived ingredients and is especially good as a night treatment for face, hands, feet, neck and even décolleté.

Do you have a moisturizer you absolutely love? If not, I would definitely give this top quality award winning “repair cream” a try. We named it one of our best face moisturizers for a reason: it’s dermatologist-tested and recommended, good for even the most sensitive skin types, and ultra-hydrating, too.

Plus, if you are one of them millions of eczema sufferers in the USA it is made with colloidal oatmeal, which instantly soothes the skin and protects and strengthens the skin barrier. This is a generous size for a premium product that will last you months – and you can’t beat this price.

Incredible deal alert! These gold-plated, Jessica Alba-approved eye masks contain hyaluronic acid, amino acids, and seaweed to hydrate the delicate under-eye area, reduce dark circles and puffiness, and blur fine lines as they go—and right now, they’re 60% off!

They are also paraben and sulfate free, vegan and gentle enough for most skin types. The luxurious packaging makes them an excellent gift.

This Jennifer Aniston fave serum stick is the ideal delivery system for softening fine lines, prepping skin for makeup and targeting dry patches. Made from 80% squalane – a known skin enhancer – it’s fragrance-free, cruelty-free and dermatologist-tested. We’ve tried this ultra-silky balm and it leaves a dewy finish, plus it’s absolutely fantastic for smoothing out the under-eye area before applying concealer to prevent makeup from settling into fine lines.

This is the cream you want if you, for example, says, “I think firming creams are BS, but I’d also like to believe they’re true because I currently hate my neck.” Gold Bond firming cream is no frills, but gets the job done (the job is tighter jaws and a smaller reptilian neck). The formula is light and on the thin side, but the product absorbs well and is gentle enough not to irritate sensitive skin.

Note: You’ll need to use it consistently for about a month to see results, and obviously it won’t magically make you look 25, but being able to grab this ample size for less does this product worth trying.

Albolene’s unobtrusive, no-frills moisturizing facial cleanser is one of those celebrity beauty secrets, a product you’d never think of buying for yourself until a friend says, “YOU HAVE TO GET IT. IT’S CHANGED MY LIFE.” Well, I’m the friend who tells you that this lush, velvety, mild, unscented cream is about to transform your entire nighttime skincare routine and make your face a whole lot softer and happier in the process.

The gentle, century-old cleanser removes makeup effortlessly without water (although you can choose to remove it using a damp washcloth or cotton ball). It is especially effective for older women who are concerned about damaging delicate under-eye areas and causing fine lines by scrubbing away mascara and eyeliner. It is also safe for all skin types. Trust me, if you buy it now (for only $10!), it will become an unmissable beauty on your bathroom shelves and – if you’re a good friend – those of every woman you know.

If I could, I’d buy every person I know a bottle of CosRx Snail Serum – it’s truly a favorite product, one of the most effective skin care products for evening complexion, softening skin and lightening dark spots I’ve ever tried. But because handing over a bottle of snail slime on a major holiday might seem a little odd, these sheet masks are a quality alternative.

They contain the award-winning snail slime, er loud moisturizing and works for virtually any skin type. Users report they help with skin inflammation and even rosacea, and this 10-pack is a solid entry into the famous K-beauty line—and you can’t beat the price.

If you’re looking for an overall firming, brightening, hydrating, complexion-evening night cream for the face, neck and décolleté, you can’t do much better than this clinically proven version from trusted brand RoC – especially at this price.

The popular cream is non-greasy and non-comedogenic and loved by dermatologists and celebrities alike (Sarah Jessica Parker is a fan). And according to the more than 4,000 five-star reviews, regular people are all over it too: “I’m in my 70s and this cream has been my favorite for years. It works on my skin!”

If you want to complement your serum stick with another REALLY AMAZING Tatcha product, this rice polish is a beloved favorite among celebrities and skincare experts. Meghan Markle once told Lure that she loves it because “it just lathers on your face and gives you a really subtle exfoliation.”

Every beauty editor I know uses this to cleanse their skin at night – it’s especially good for those of us over 50.
