Ceremony commemorating the life of former Houston anchor Chauncy Glover to be held Saturday

HOUSTON – A ceremony to remember and honor the life and legacy of beloved former Houston anchor and reporter Chauncy Glover is scheduled to be held Saturday in Houston.

Glover died unexpectedly on Nov. 5, his family announced in a statement to KCAL in Los Angeles, where the 39-year-old had been co-anchoring the 8 p.m. news. 17, 20 and at .

Glover was laid to rest on Saturday, November 16th in his hometown of Athens, Alabama.

His life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 23rd at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church located at 3826 Wheeler Avenue.

Before taking over the evening news desk in Los Angeles, Chauncy was an anchor and reporter at KTRK in Houston for eight years. During his tenure in Houston, he became a pillar of the community.

Through the Chauncy Glover Project, a mentoring program he founded to support and uplift young men, Chauncy often said he was driven by a powerful moment after witnessing the loss of a teenager on the streets of Detroit. From then on, Chauncy made it his mission to help young men of color achieve success by sending over 300 mentees to college and transforming countless lives. His work was recognized nationally, including by President Barack Obama and the My Brother’s Keeper initiative.

In addition to his contributions to journalism and mentorship, Chauncy was a gifted performer who had sung at Rosa Parks’ funeral and a motivational speaker who inspired audiences across the nation. He was also an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, embodying his motto, “Fear stops where faith begins.”
