Could Kendrick Lamar’s New Album Mean a Warriors Title?

(CROWN) – Kendrick Lamar dropped an album — “GNX” — on Friday, and that could be a good sign for the Golden State Warriors.

Each of the last four times the California rapper has released an album, the Warriors have won the NBA Finals.

  • 2015: Kendrick Lamar releases “To Pimp a Butterfly,” Warriors beat Cleveland Cavaliers in Finals.

  • 2017: Lamar releases “DAMN,” Warriors beat Cavaliers in Finals.

  • 2018: Lamar releases “Black Panther: The Album,” Warriors beat Cavs again.

  • 2022: Lamar releases “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers,” Warriors beat Boston Celtics to win another ring.

Warriors players have even noticed the trend. After their latest title, Draymond Green acknowledged the streak on X.

Lamar dropped “GNX” in 2024, and the finale won’t be until 2025, but the album was released during the 2024-25 season.

So far, things are looking good for the Warriors. After letting Klay Thompson go and filling his role with new additions, the team is off to a 12-3 start to the season.

The album also culminates a big year for Lamar. He feuded with co-star Drake and was seen by many as the winner of the “steak” when he dropped his hit song “Not Like Us”.

One possible problem – Stephen Curry took Drake’s side in the feud. Warriors fans can only hope that doesn’t disrupt the mojo.
