The Punt Acca: Matt Rennie’s three horse racing tips from Ascot, Catterick and Newcastle on Friday

Three horses must be included in a treble on Friday. . .

Celtic Dino (1.30 Ascot)

This five-year-old can continue his rapid progression with victory in this 1m7½f hurdle competition. Trained by Sam Thomas, he has only been beaten once in his career, when a good third in a Listed bumper at this course last December, and produced a hugely impressive hurdles at Wincanton last month. The form of it works well with second place, with third and fourth having won since. He can give main rival Joyeuse 7lb and a beating.

Dream Jet (1.50 Catterick)

This six-year-old may be more exposed now, but he still looks well prepared to go close again in the 2m3f handicap chase. Trained by Brian Ellison, he has finished outside the frame just once in his last seven starts and turned his form around with The Churchill Lad when he scored impressively at Hexham a fortnight ago. He’s only been put up for it, and while he’s been busy, he remains in great shape.

Bergerac (5.15 Newcastle)

This Kevin Ryan-trained six-year-old does very well in handicaps in large fields at this level and can strike again on the field in the feature 5f handicap. A winner at York’s Ebor meeting in 2022, two of his last three wins have come over this course and distance and ran big races when sixth in the Portland Handicap and third in the Ayr Silver Cup the last two times. He has been put up just 1lb for his latest effort and returns to a track he thrives on.
