Jared McCain’s 2k25 rating soars in latest update

NBA 2k25 released their first ratings updates across the league on Thursday, with Jared McCain headlining his rookie class.

McCain started the season with an overall rating of 73. After the latest update, it has been boosted to 83 – which is currently the best for the 2024 draft class. Lakers forward Dalton Knecht is just behind with a combined 80, with Zach Edey (79) and first-round pick Zaccharie Risacher (78) rounding out the top.

In the past, we’ve seen pretty significant jumps from players. But McCain improving 10 total points in a single update marks one of the biggest jumps in the game’s history.

McCain’s average across the board is excellent. Since being inserted into the starting lineup, he has averaged 25.8 points and 5.8 assists in 36.6 minutes of action while shooting 50 percent from the field and 46.2 percent from three.

Rookies aren’t the only ones getting an update, but entire teams are updated accordingly. For the Sixers, more than half of the roster saw updates:

  • Joel Embiid: 95 OVR (-1)
  • Paul George: 88 OVR (-1)
  • Jared McCain: 83 OVR (+10)
  • Kelly Oubre Jr.: 78 OVR (-1)
  • Guerschon Yabusele: 78 OVR (+2)
  • Andre Drummond: 76 OVR (-1)
  • Eric Gordon: 74 OVR (-2)
  • Reggie Jackson: 73 OVR (-1)
  • Ricky Council IV: 72 OVR (-1)

2k ratings are typically hit or miss, but pretty much everything here makes sense. Jared McCain and Guerschon Yabusele have been the biggest silver linings so far this season, and their ratings have evolved accordingly.

This is the first update of many during the season, but Jared McCain is definitely trending in the right direction on the field and in the video game world.
