Venice Indians looking for a win on FHSAA State Championship Gameday at Pitbull Stadium in Miami

MIAMI, Fla. (WWSB) -The Venice Indians are just one win away from making a historic season a dream come true for arguably the best football program on the Suncoast. The Venice Indians want to be known as the best FHSAA Class 7A football team in Florida. To do so, Venice (13-1) must defeat Lake Mary (12-2) at PitBull Stadium on the campus of Florida International University in Miami.

“We’re really serious about closing the deal. You know, we’ve been there for the last three years or so, and then we lost the last two. So to keep going there and to not do that, so looks very embarrassing, so we’re going to close,” said Jamaris Wilder, the three-star running back who recently committed to Louisville.

This group of seniors was part of the 2021 State Championship team for Venice. After playing in the state title game four straight years, the only thing left for this team to do is win their last game together. The Indians lost last season and have used those memories as motivation to win the big game this year.

“We’ve got a little something to prove and kind of make up for the last two years. We’ve got a bunch of kids that have been a part of the last two years that want to redeem themselves,” said John Peacock, the three-time VHS State Championship coach.
