Texas Tech quarterback accuses Arkansas offensive lineman of intentional foul play

The fallout from the AutoZone Liberty Bowl continued Saturday, one day after the Texas Tech football team fell to Arkansas 39-26 in Memphis. That’s because Texas Tech senior safety CJ Baskerville charges an Arkansas offensive lineman, Fernando Carmonafor deliberately trying to hurt him in a postgame pileup.

On Saturday the X, Baskerville put up a show a post who says “There’s no denying that Arkansas played a great game last night, I won’t take that away from them. But #55 Fernando Carmona blatantly stepping on my ankle and pressing down on it on purpose is downright dirty. To be continued to say “got your b**** a***.” Do better @RazorbackFB.”

Furthermore, Baskerville included two video clips that appear to support his claim that Carmona intentionally stepped on Baskerville’s ankle. It’s not a good look for Carmons, a redshirt junior from Las Vegas, Nevada.

No flag was thrown on the play, so Carmona got away with his misdeed. However, it was a dangerous act that could have seriously harmed Baskerville.

Carmona started nine games for the Razorbacks this season. Along the way, he was twice named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week.

Meanwhile, Baskerville was a solid starter for the Red Raiders this fall, appearing in 13 games. He made 78 tackles and picked off four passes for the Red Raiders, the second straight year in which he had 78 tackles.

Against the Razorbacks, Baskerville led Tech with 10 total tackles, seven of the solo variety. Fortunately, he was able to play the entire game after being stepped on by Carmona. Even if nothing comes of this incident since the officials did not catch Carmona in the act, Arkansas or the SEC should take action because there is no place for that type of activity on the football field.
