Armed barricaded subject prompts lockdown in Antioch

Saturday night was Antioch Police Department issued a lockdown order for part of Antioch after a shots fired call resulted in a barricaded subject inside a home.

Just after 10 p.m. Saturday, a community warning system alert went off asking people to shelter in place near Country Hills and Knoll Park Circle in Antioch.

According to preliminary information, Antioch Police initially responded to Knoll Park Circle around 6:25 p.m. for a report of multiple shots fired. A man then entered a home and has not come out. A loudspeaker could be heard requesting the person to come out of the home with their hands up.

“No one was shot. We got a ShotSpotter activation with multiple shots fired. It appears that the boyfriend shot at his girlfriend. Girlfriend and children are unharmed and safe, but the man may be barricaded in the home now, says Chief Brian Addington.

According to residents of the neighborhood, they have said that 5 to 8 gunshots were heard at the time of the shooting.

Police have not released any other information, and it is unclear if anyone was injured.

There is currently law enforcement activity near Country Hills and Knoll Park Circle in Antioch. Residents in the area north of Lone Tree Way and south of Country Hills Drive are advised to shelter in place.

Instructions:

• Enter immediately.

• Close and lock all windows and doors.

• DO NOT call 9-1-1 unless you need to report a life-threatening emergency.
