One lucky winner could score the Mega Millions jackpot, which is over $800 million ahead of tonight’s drawing at 7 p.m. 11 p.m. ET. The jackpot rose to $862 million on Friday – a result of no one winning the main prize after Tuesday’s drawing.

If a single person wins, this jackpot would be the seventh largest in the game’s history, and the largest prize ever won in December.

While one a significant tax bill wanted to knock down the jackpot amount significantly, we took a look and chose to use the full $862 million to illustrate the full extent of the prize.

Ticket prices for Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” varied by location and date. When the tour went live in Glendale, Arizona, in 2023, the average ticket price there was $529. But at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, the average ticket cost was $3,071, making it the most expensive venue, according to USA Today. At the average ticket price, the winner of the Mega Millions jackpot could afford to buy 280,690 tickets, or buy the 70,000-seat stadium four times.

An $862 million jackpot could buy 870,707,071 cans of Arizona tea. You read that right. For more than three decades, the company has consistently kept the brand’s 23-ounce cans at 99 cents. The founder, Don Vultaggio, spilled the beans on the uniform price in an interview with NBC’s Today show earlier this year.

“We’re successful, we’re debt-free, we own everything,” Vultaggio said. “Why should people who are struggling to pay their rent pay more for our drink? Maybe it’s my little way of giving back.”

However, retailers and business owners have the right to set their own prices. That’s why you can pay more than the can’s suggested retail price of 99 cents at a place like a gas station.

A fleet of private jets

A new ultra-long-range private jet that can fly up to 16 hours would cost about $65 million, according to the Global Charter. So if someone wins the grand prize, they can buy 13 of this type of smart plane, which is also owned by celebrities such as Michael Jordan, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg. This price does not include crew costs or maintenance fees.

Enough iPhones for the entire population of South Dakota — and then some

Apple’s iPhone 16 costs $799 per phone. The winner of the jackpot could buy 1,078,849 phones, which is more than enough for the population of the state of South Dakota, which is estimated at 924,669, according to US Census Bureau.

A trip to the edge of space – for very of people

Virgin Galactic currently offers suborbital flights that travel about 50 miles above Earth and cost $600,000 per ticket. If there is a grand prize winner on Friday, they can buy 1,437 tickets. That number could include all 535 members of the US Congress, all of them 712 active players in the National Hockey League and 190 of the person’s closest friends and family combined.
