WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM for the Twin Cities for freezing rain mixed with snow.

Not a major ice storm for the Twin Cities, but be ready Saturday for a mix of freezing rain and snow after 6 p.m. 12:00 Saturday and continue until Saturday afternoon.

Freezing rain mixed with snow will move from south to north later. Tonight it pushes into the Fairmont area at 9 p.m. and the Mankato area around 11 p.m. and then the twin cities after 12.00 Saturday. The combination of ice/snow will allow for Slick Roads in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas and along a line from Hutchinson to North Branch & points north including St.Cloud, Brainerd, Mora and Duluth +2” snow.

Ice amounts up to 0.10” from Twin Cities and south with Heavier Ice running toward Albert Lea and Rochester.

Temperatures will be in the low 20s at 12 in the Twin Cities at the surface and 32 degrees above 4000 feet in clouds. During the morning at the surface, temperatures will be in the low to mid 30s in clouds, with surface temperatures in the mid to upper 20s. Surface temperatures will rise to 32 degrees by late Saturday afternoon and this will help make roads mainly wet, but fog and freezing fog is expected Saturday night into Sunday morning, leading to Slick Spots Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Sunday will warm up to the mid-30s, so icy roads won’t be a problem, but a light rain/snow mix possible in the Twin Cities Monday morning with temperatures in the low to mid-30s JONATHAN YUHAS
