Former member of NJ band My Chemical Romance dead at age 44

Bob Bryara former drummer for the New Jersey band My chemical romancehas died, reports TMZ.

Bryar, 44, was found dead at his Tennessee home on Nov. 26 after being last seen alive on Nov. 4, according to the report.

His death is under investigation.

A Chicago native, Bryar was the drummer for the macabre styled pop-punk and emo darlings from 2004 to 2010.

He replaced a former sound engineer for The Used Matt Pelissierthe band’s original drummer.

Pelissier co-founded My Chemical Romance in 2001, in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, with frontman Gerard Waya colleague from Summit who grew up in Belleville.

Bryar, who joined My Chemical Romance after the release of their second album, “Three Cheers for sweet revenge” (2004), played on the band’s third album “The Black Parade” (2006), which was a huge hit, reaching number 2 on the Billboard 200. Singles included the anthem “Welcome to the Black Parade.”

The drummer was injured in 2006 during the filming of a music video for another of the album’s singles, “Famous last words” (see video below), sustaining third-degree burns on his legs.

After Bryar left the band in 2010, drummer Michael Pedicone replaced him on tour before the group broke up in 2013.

Bryar later became a real estate agent and dog rescue advocate.

My Chemical Romance, who launched their first reunion tour in 2019 and played Newark in 2022, will play North America again in 2025 on their 10-city Long live the Black Parade tour, which is coming MetLife Stadium Aug. 9.

Bryar was not part of the group’s reunions.

In 2022, the band released “The Foundations of Decay”, its first new song in eight years.
